SRA Home  The Strathspey Railway Company  Caley 828

Like the 'big railway', the Strathspey Railway is made up of a number of departments.

Broadly categorised, the departments can be classified as Engineering or Operations, and both broad areas are vital for the day to tay railway.

Engineering includes the Motive Power department, responsible for the maintenance and restoration of all forms of motive power on the railway - Steam, Diesel and DMU.  Also included are Permanent Way, Signal and Telegraph; and Carriage and Waggon.

Operations includes Shop Staff, Guards, Ticket Inspectors, Drivers, Firemen and Signalmen.

There are other areas of the railway which don't fall neatly into either category, for example Publicity and Marketing.

One key difference between the Strathspey Railway and the 'big railway' is that here on the Strathspey we encourage people to become involved in more than one department - to 'wear more than one hat' - here at the Strathspey Railway, we have something for everyone.
