The Strathspey Railway has a modern, dedicated facility for the restoration and maintenance of the various rolling stock in use on the railway. The well lit, spacious carriage restoration shed can be seen from the train as you leave Aviemore, and is located next to our historic Engine Shed. The shed can hold two carriages at any one time, which is usually enough to keep our volunteers on their toes. The tasks undertaken here are varied: metalwork, woodwork, electrics, plumbing - usually a combination of all of these. We are always happy to hear from anyone who wishes to become involved in any aspect of maintenance and restoration of carriages. If you are interested in helping out, please contact us for more information. |
